The Collector position reports to the Collections Supervisor. This position is full-time and the standard shift is 8am-5pm Monday through Friday. There may be occasional overtime required.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Perform necessary assignments in support of the collection of past due VISA and Consumer Loan accounts (auto loans, unsecured loans, real estate, etc).
2. Review and analyze historical data on past due accounts as well as maintain complete documentation of collection activity. 3. Contact member by phone and/or letter to determine reason for delinquency and to educate member on proper payment process while negotiating and establishing repayment terms within defined guidelines. 4. Handle collateral protection insurance, credit life insurance and assistance programs for members. Be familiar with bankruptcy claims and the required documentation to assure payment. 5. Responsible for professional, efficient handling of calls. Provide product service information or prompt routing of calls, as appropriate.
6. Maintain and appropriately apply thorough knowledge of all credit union products, policies, and standards.
7. Assist in the collection of return deposit items.
8. Compile and generate reports, as required
Requirements include:
1.) High School diploma or GED
2.) At least 1 1/2 to 2 years working experience in collections and/or in a credit union 3.) Familiarity with FDR, PACER, FDCPA is a plus as well as knowledge of bankruptcy laws
4.) Work well in a team environment and comply with policies and procedures. Ensure cooperation/teamwork and assist other staff, as needed.
5.) Possess and apply exceptional customer service skills, as well as communications skills- verbal, listening and written (In person and on the telephone). Demonstrate member service awareness; exhibiting tact, patience and diplomacy.
6.) Keep all Credit Union and Member information confidential.
7.) Maintain the highest standards for accuracy in work performed.
8.) Have exceptionally good attendance and punctuality. 9.) Working computer knowledge including Windows MS Office Suites (Word,Excel), Internet, Outlook Mail; USERS / Akcelerant experience helpful, but not required. 10.) Able and willing to learn additional job responsibilities over time.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1.Serve as role model for branch employees by displaying strong customer service and interpersonal skills, maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity at all times, and coaching employees on cross-selling credit union consumer and business products. 2.Supervise all branch employees including but not limited to hiring new employees, motivating existing employees to perform at a high level, developing and training existing employees, mentoring employees that demonstrate leadership potential, identifying employees that may require additional training or guidance, completing employee evaluations in a timely manner, and issuing corrective actions consistently. 3.Oversee all branch operations to ensure efficiency and compliance, and continually look for opportunities to improve procedures and processes; develop a branch dynamic that encourages employees to present creative ideas for operational or technical improvements. 4.Oversee the overall security of branch and branch employees; ensure that physical security equipment is in working order, set to appropriate time and available in the event of a robbery, fraud or other circumstances; ensure all security measures designed to protect members/personnel, building and contents, cash and all negotiable instruments are being followed and continually monitored. 5.Ensure all cash and equipment audits are performed as outlined in TFCU Security Policies.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Become actively involved in the local community, develop business relationships with potential and existing members as well as local businesses to promote the credit union; attend and participate in management meetings and committees. 2.Maintain working knowledge of various regulations and guidelines including but not limited to Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Secrecy Act, etc.; stay abreast of any new regulations, guidelines or procedures affecting branch operations. 3.Maintain employment law knowledge such as FMLA, Wage and Hour, and Occupational Safety to ensure basic compliance; coordinate with Human Resources Department when needed. 4.Keep VP and Senior.
